Indiana Nights

On Friday June 2, I joined up with members of my “Faculty” Brannon Hancock and John Drury to play a set of Tom Adamson tunes at Sender Cafe in the heart of Downtown Marion, Indiana.

Honda Odyssey- the official indie-rock mini-van of Tom Adamson and the Faculty. #dadrock (L-R Brannon, Me, John)

Elizabeth was with me. As were my 2 sons Zeke (who took the photos) and Sam (who drummed on two songs at the show.) The boys were my road crew.

I am playing the bridge in the song “whistling past the graveyard” Sometimes in a photo I can see what my hands are doing on the fretboard and what shape my mouth is and identify the musical moment the image was captured.

It was a hot evening. 90 degrees F. But the sun was setting as we loaded out and chatted with the members of the audience. Topics: being in bands, cool cover songs, Anglican/Episcopal priest life and spirituality, seasonal allergies, track and field. My family and I headed up I 69 and got off at a truck stop in the deep country darkness, to Ugalde’s Cafe. It’s a glamorous life. For cold drinks and breakfast anytime.
